Nogitsune, also frequently called yako, are a type of kitsune—magical foxes found in East Asian folklore. Specifically the term refers to low ranking, wild kitsune that do not have a divine soul or serve as messengers of the gods. In folktales where humans are tormented, tricked, or possessed by kitsune, the culprit is almost always a nogitsune.

History of Foxtsumu
Atsumu was born as a kitsune. He has a twin younger brother who shares the same exact look as his, an identical brother. The grandmother of the pack named the twins as Atsumu and Osamu. They were born as twins from a couple of nine tailed foxes who initially lived happily until a particular fateful day.Their mother always told them many stories about humans’ kindness, but ever since their parents died, little splatters of hatred changed Atsumu’s mind.Their parents were murdered by humans. The mortals asked for a shaman’s favor to get rid of the beast’s family, not knowing the shaman actually works with an inugami (dog spirit). Inugami are famous for using enchantments and some can use black magic.Kitsunes are afraid of dogs in general and the perpetrators used that to their advantage. After they managed to weaken both of them, they drove a metal spike made out of iron into her heart to kill their parents.Atsumu, who has never put his trust towards humans slowly understood, that both realms are unable to coexist. Though he kept listening to his mother who tried to shift his point of view about them. He ended up growing older in full hatred after he knew that humans used to treat their parents unfairly even before they were born, he hates their differences and humans’ superiority.

Unboxing The Fact
The twins became an orphan after their parents were murdered, Osamu who held onto his mother’s words by believing that not all humans hate them refused to trust his older twin brother. Atsumu was all fed up by every single bad thing that ever happened to them. One by one kitsune was found dead. It stressed him out.Atsumu was a two tailed kitsune at the time, he was too young for this, but he did it anyway, ran out of their territory with one determination in his pocket. He would let the humans taste their own medicine, he would never make them live their lives in peace.“I ain’t gonna stay and be a coward, I will hate ‘em as much as their desires to murder this family!”, Atsumu promised, 800 years ago.Then, Atsumu grew up and became a nogitsune?

¹ Atsumu is quite sensitive in daylight, it is a fear of the sun. Thus, he would prefer to go out of his hideout during night time. The place he owns is named Mischief Manor. That place represent a doomsday, there are scarcely lights and furnitures, there is only one medium sized candle in every corner of his manor. Though, it is not a fancy place, this building is quite huge and would be able to keep a whole pack of foxes safe inside it. This manor looks similar to a temple/shrine and resides in the deep of the forest.
